Unknowns Part 11

In this picture there are three women. Right to left are Mary Price, Annie Price and unknown. I am not sure what the deal is with the flower that Mary has. Below is another picture with Annie Price and a lady I was told is Mary Post. Mary Post has the same flower. Does anyone know what this meant or was for?

The unknown man does favor the sons of Asa and Mary Shelton and could possibly be either William or Joseph.

Unknowns Part 10

I was fortunate enough to have a cousin of mine send me some pictures of our family. One among them was this picture. I know two of the three people. On the left is Mary Price Orr, next is Marie Price (the unknown), then James Orr on the right. I do not know who Marie Price is, so I would like any help identifying her!

Unknowns Part 9

Originally I thought this might be from one of the Lane family reunions, but now I think it might be the Campbell family. The man to the far left looks like Lee Campbell, the woman beside him is my great-grandmother, Roma Campbell Lane. At the end of the table (on the left corner) is my grandmother, Rhodees Lane Orr, holding my father, in the black dress beside her is Mary Price Orr (who is my great-grandmother), then it looks like my grandfather Price Orr or his twin brother James. Behind Mary Orr is, I believe, George and Lois (McKay) Watson. If you can confirm these people or name the others please share!

Joe Hughes and Rosita Peet

I am not sure about who Joe Hughes is and his connection with Rosita or her family. There are a few other pictures of him, but this was the best I could find. This picture was also taken at Gonzales Prada in Lima, Peru (probably in the later 1930's).

South American Unknowns

This picture belonged to Rosita Maria Peet (Her maiden name. She was married to Rees Price Orr in 1933 and Robert Kelley in 1941). Rosita was born in Panama to Henry Earnest Peet and Hortensia Marquez, but they also lived in the Lima, Peru area. I believe that Lucille is a cousin of some sort. From the writing on the back (seen below in the second picture) it is Lucille, Erick and Rosita. The picture was taken by Joe Hughes (who I will post a picture of next) at Gonzales Prada. I found some information on Erick and Lucille. They are married and their last name is Konrad. Lucille's birthday is January 3rd (from Rosita's list of birthdays). That is about it to my knowledge of them.

Roberts Sisters

I wanted to add this picture to my blog so that other members of this line could see it. This is a great picture sent to me by a cousin who belongs to this family. He graciously shared a picture of all the daughters of Edward P. Roberts and Ann Price. Other than these ladies there were two brothers, which as of this moment I only have a black & white passport picture for one, Thomas.

From left to right they are:
Front row - Mary Ella "Mamie" Roberts Baumann and Annie Laurie Roberts Turner;

Middle row - Hattie Roberts Eppes, Susannah Elizabeth "Susie" Roberts Young and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Roberts Hambright;

Back row - Catherine Clarissa "Katie" Roberts Evans and Minnie May Roberts Chastain.

Unknown Part 6

This is another unknown person that was part of our picture collection. It was in the pictures of my father's family, so it might be from the Orr or Lane side. Who knows. The only thing written on the back was "Sinclair." I am not sure if that is her last name or what it means. Please let me know if you can identify her.

Price-Galbraith family

The Price family joined the Galbraith family with the marriage of Elizabeth Price (daughter of Abraham "Abram" Jones Price and Annie Richards) to Joseph John Galbraith in 1907. I was given this picture of Elizabeth "Bess" by someone, though I cannot remember who (I lost the e-mail and picture through a crashed hard drive, but had saved the picture to my Dad's computer). I found out about them by the fact that they had the other half of a cemetery section that my great-great-grandmother, Ann Richards Price, had purchased. I would love to see more pictures of them and learn more about them in my continued search for my family.

I know more about the sons of this family, but I do somewhat know about one of the daughters. I have yet to learn what happened to the other.

Robert Gourley family

My great-grandfather is Robert "Bob" Gourley. He was born in Blount County, TN. He married Ellen Caroline Butler. After his marriage I know that they lived in Rafter, Monroe County, TN. We do not have a picture of Bob, though I would love to be able to find one. He is buried near their homeplace in Rafter. We do not know exactly where he is buried, but we know the general area. I am unsure if the grave is even marked. I was also told that there was a baby or small child also buried with him. In the 1900 Census Ellen is listed as having 5 of 6 children living. There is a space of six years between the first two children where there could have been another child. I am still trying to investigate this to see if I can learn more.

Joseph J. Price

Joseph J. Price was born in January 1879 in Knoxville, Tennessee. His parents are Thomas Rees Price and Ann (Annie) Maria Richards. Both Thomas and Annie were born in Pennsylvania. You can learn more about them in my earlier post (link). Joseph went to the University of Tennessee, I believe. He was listed as a former fraternity member, though I cannot remember which one at the moment. After his father died in 1906, Joseph continued to work in the furniture company (Knoxville Furniture Company). In the 1910 census Joseph (or Joe) was still living with his mother. I am not sure when, but between 1910-1920 Joseph left Knoxville. The story my father told me was that Joe had left to escape running the family business. He headed west and only contacted his family a couple of times later. There also is the possibility that he changed his name.
